In Hurumanu we made a timeline about the leader whether his a villain or a hero. In my Timeline, I've chosen Gaius Julius Ceasar for my timeline. Gaius Julius Ceasar was a Roman general who played a role in the events that made the Roman Republic Demise and the rise of the Roman Emire, he and his group of people also have dominated Roman politics for several years. Julius Ceasar also is a dictator and He was famously Assassinated and got stabbed 23 times by a political rival.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Separating a mixture using distillation
Separating a mixture using distillation
Aim: to separate a solute from a solvent in a solution using distillation
equipment:
1. coke zero
2. conical flask
3. delivery tube
4. bung
5. element
6. retort stand
7. ice to cool up the gas
8. boiling tube
method:
1. set up the equipment as shown on the diagrams
2. add the conical flask 50 ml of coke zero
3. put the flask on the element and turn on the element.
discussion:
we used a conical flask to hold our solution of coke, then we boiled it using an element with the coke in the flask. and after the coke zero evaporated into a gas we used the delivery tube to transfer the gas to a boiling tube, then we put the beaker that has ice inside, under the boiling tube to cool up the heated gas to a liquid/Condenses. after the coke zero evaporated, the sugar was left behind inside the flask.

Looking inside rat's body, Science experiment
this weak on a science experiment, we look at the inside of the dead rat. We were excited experimenting with a dead rat and some others were not and they were discus and they were not even want to participate with the experiment.
The equipment we used was.
Tweezers to move the organ around.
scissors is to cut thru the bone and stuff.
scalpel for slicing the skin open of the rat.
Our teacher gathered us showed us how to cut thru the rat's body and explained us how to use the equipment she was using, some others was discussed while the body of the the rat was sliced up thru the body. When she was done showing and explaining us the body of the rat, our teacher split us up into 3 groups and gave us a death rat.
When it is our time to do some experiment, we opened the body of the rat we were looking and finding the Liver, intestines, heart, lungs, stomach, and more. Were going to see how lots of organ reacted to the rat's body, and our teacher were explained fun facts about the organs.

HURUMANU 8/HEALTH - Hauora Learning Reflection
Aim: to blog about how my wellbeing and how our wellbeing works and what can happen if our part of the Hauora is not strong.
Question 1: A conclusion on what the 'Whare tape wha' is and how it illustrates Hauora?
Whare Tapa Wha is useful to understand because, without the four of the Hauora, our Hauora is not strong, so we need Hauora every day in life so that is why we study health.
Question 2: How did you participate during this lesson/Health?
I participated by having fun and learning from my human teacher and I get to work with others and we also did 10 mins of Hauora/Wellbeing for our health.
Question 3: What are your current states of Hauora/Wellbeing?

wonder
-Intro of wonder is: close up, a spaceman jump into the shot using slow motion shot to give the feeling we are in space.
-The intro symbol of the astronaut helmet covers his face, represents the barrier Agust put between himself.
-The music starts, slow but goes lauder that is like you are relaxing into space sleeping. The music tempo and dynamic increase to build energy in the scene, we hear a radio of the ground control talking to the astronaut.
-Next is a tracking shot as the camera moves away from the figure. It is now a boy with a helmet jumping on the bed.
-Close up shows us Auggies 'reality' or view of the world but as the camera pulls back we see the real world.
-The first narrator is Auggie.
-The second narrator is Via (Auggie's sister)
-In 2mins building suspense as we still haven't seen the school, we don't know what is wrong but we think the hint is bad because he went thru the hospital with several 20 plastic surgeries.
-In the class part, he mentions the star wars, the symbol of Auggie wanting people to treat him normally, in the star wars universe there are lots of weird-looking people too and no one stares at them every time. In the class part. there is a message that Summer(Auggies girlfriend) said " When being given the chance between being right and being kind, choose kind"
The Nature Reserve Scene
kindness - respect others, look after others, speak nicely, include others.
Example 1 - Summer sits with August. This shows the theme of kindness because Summer left the other kids who were saying mean things to go and sit with August who looked lonely. Kindness is important to the Story overall because without it Auggie will not build confidence, make friends and feel accepted.
example 2 - Auggie shows kindness when he shows his answers with Jack this Links to the theme because Auggie sees someone in need, Jack isn't even friends yet but helps him anyway, this is important because it is the first step to enabling Auggie to make friends, being kind starts this friendship that will be important later in the film.
importance of family - through these relationships Auggie and others learn the values of trust and self-confidence, they are less alone.
example 1 - the Scene where Miranda talks about spending Christmas with the Pullmans
- Links to the theme - Miranda is happy and included by the Pullmans, she is ignored/ forgotten at home/ she realize that she misses having friends/Family, it is Important because it makes Miranda an efforts to recognize what shes lost/misses and she make to reconnect with Via and the Pullmans.
Example 2 - When the boys came to rescue jack and Auggie, It means Auggie is now included and now has friends and feelings of trust and confidence, the ultimate example of acceptance and friendship, his classmate has his back without him asking, the first time they treat him as an equal.
Being kind vs Being popular - doing the right thing even when your friends dont, others pressure you.
example 1 - Julien picks on Auggie in front of others, Auggie is an easy target, it makes Julien looks popular when the others laugh.
Links to the film - Julien chose to be popular at the expense of others, chases to bully Auggie to seem popular.
Important because it shows choosing popular has negative outcomes Julien eventually loses his friends leave school and unhappy, however, Jack, who chooses kind has lots of friends, he's happy and doesn't get kicked out for bullying.

Climate Change and the Future
Aim; To look at the different ways we can prevent climate change in the future.
What places will be affected?
Deferent places in New Zealand, Pacific Island, Rivers, Close to the Beach.
What else do we need to think about?
Pollution.
What other places around NZ will be affected?
Places near the shore.
What does this do to our drinking water?
Saltwater will get into peoples drinking water and bad for health.
What are the main concerns?
The sea level is getting higher.
What can we do?
- Buy an electric vehicle.
- Electric transport.
- Try to use more electricity.
What is the one, silver bullet solution?
There is no silver bullet solution.
What is the mix of things we need to start doing?
- Using solar, on buildings
- Keeping away from the fossil-fueled transport vehicles.
- Plant more trees.
What are 3 others you can think of?
- Replace the trees that were cut.
- Replace the vehicles that were releasing carbon dioxide into an electric vehicle.
- Use fewer vehicles that release carbon dioxide.

Renewable energy and solar energy
Aim: To make a solar-powered oven.
Materials:
Conclusion
I have learned a lot. I've learned how long it takes for stylophone to rot it takes thousands of years so it means that it takes the longest to break down. Banana is also the easiest to rot out of the four it had already gone mouldy. I'd like to finish off with I would like to do this again.
Aim: To make a presentation that investigates different renewable energy.
Section 1: Title Page
Make a title page that incorporates all renewable energy 's Hydro, Solar, Wind, and Wave.
Section 2: Definitions
Define and provide a picture of each energy type.
Hydro Energy
Section 3; Investigate each of the 4 Energy types.
( Hydro ,Solar ,Wind ,Wave )
Section 4: Renewable Energy in the future.
List 10 ways that renewable energy will be used in the future to replace our current activities.
Materials:
- Sellotape
- Scissors
- Pizza box
- Straw
- Marshmallow
- Biscuit
- Glad wrap
- Tinfoil
- Black plastic
- Ruler
- Vivid marker
- Newspaper
Steps:
- Measure the box
- Cut the center of the box
- Cover the bit you cut, with tin foil
- Put a piece of black plastic on the bottom of the inside of the pizza on the bottom
- Make a paper square that fits inside the pizza box and lays around the edge
- Put a marshmallow on top of a chocolate biscuit, place it on a plastic plate and put it in the solar oven
- Put it in the sun to cook

the windest area is field because it is a big space, so its windy.
WHICH IS THE CALMEST AREA AND WHY?
the calmest area is tenis court because there trees around the court.
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE ON LAND TO BUILD A WINDMILL?
The best places for wind farms are in coastal areas, at the tops of rounded hills, open plains, and gaps in mountains - places where the wind is strong and reliable. Some are offshore.
WHICH IS THE CALMEST AREA AND WHY?
the calmest area is tenis court because there trees around the court.CONCLUSION:
I learn in this subject that when the wind is fast the more spin you'll get in a minute. I Learnt how to measure the wind around the area. We didn't measure the wind outside because it was raining outside and we don't have time to measure.
